We are a food tech company grounded in the notion that flavor might just change the world


We build companies based on a simple premise: we believe flavor can succeed where other solutions have failed. 

Flavor = change

For decades the western world was convinced that it has the world’s healthiest and safest diet.

 

We did not bother about how our eating habits were affecting our health or the sustainability of the environment. As a consequence we need to eat different.

 

People don’t like to change habits and they simply won’t. Unless the food tastes really good.

 

Flavor is the entry point to convince people to shift habits and eat new, healthy and sustainable foods repeatedly. 

Flavor = nutrition

Flavor means nutrition. The healthy Omega-3 fatty acids have flavor. Phenyl-ethanol, a chemical compound humans love and often described as 'rose note' in tomatoes, is made by an essential amino acid.

 

Our bodies are able to detect nutrition by smell & also have a post-ingestive feedback to signal to the brain that we have all the necessary nutrition we need.

 

For the body to develop credible associations — including feeling satiety — we need to receive honest signals. Otherwise it can’t learn.

 

Synthetic-flavor technology makes bland ingredients attractive without supplying the myriad benefits of the real thing. The fake flavor have short-circuited the biological basis leading to obesity.

Flavor = health

"Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are" said Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin. This is not a smart one liner or a 'brainy quote'- herein lies a profound understanding of the relationship between man and the food he eats.


What you eat not only tells what you are but also how healthy you are. If you like diverse universe of flavors, your health will have a positive outcome. The importance of dietary variety that includes enough fruits and vegetables, is based on several studies that have shown that diverse diets are accompanied by positive health outcomes.
 

Most people want to eat healthier, but efforts to encourage healthy eating by providing nutrition information have not changed habits much. What does work is highlighting how tasty nutritious food can be. Flavorful food makes you eat healthy

Flavor = biodiversity

People are generally more interested in where their food is coming from and how is it produced. Soil health and sustainable agriculture is in strong focus, although there has been less attention on the diversity of what’s being cultivated. 

Approximately 75% of the world’s food is coming from 12 plants and 5 animal species. The main plant-derived calories are coming from only 3 crops: wheat, maize and rice. This concentration on just a limited amount of food sources and varieties places our food system in danger - just to mention the story of the Gros Michel banana and the Irish Potato Famine - and curtails people from flavorful and nutrient dense foods.

​As the food industry has prioritized mass yield and uniformity over flavor, nutrition and sustainability, we are losing plant and animal species at a high rate, while diet-related diseases, obesity and malnutrition are on the rise. 

By building a food industry that supports the variety and variability of plants, animals, microorganisms and biocultural systems linked to agriculture and food - in other words - biodiversity, we make our food system sustainable and also provide access to new, exciting and tasty food from a diverse pool of selection. 

A biodiverse food system supports economic development, provides diversity in diet and leading us to a healthier life, while preserving cultural traditions, practices and especially, flavors. “Food-Tech connect”

Why did we start SIIQOIA?

It is no secret that the current food system is out of balance

The present food value chain meets several global obstacles including climate change on the one hand, and major health issues - such as obesity and diabetes -  directly related to our everyday diet on the other hand.

We have to realise that while food itself is part of the problem, nutrition is also the solution.

As a consequence of these effects we need to make changes and adapt to the current state of the food industry, we also need to eat different.

A food-tech group with flavor ‘know-how’ at the core and with the ambition to become a leading player in the area of healthy nutrition and health care.

We see the group as an ecosystem of small agile speedboats, but together they are intended to shape a global new food company
